Prof. Julius Omondi Nyabundi is currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Maseno University (MSU) since 2016. Prior to this he was the Principal, Murang’a University of Technology, 2014-2016 and Managing Director, Chemelil Sugar Company, 2003-2008. In addition, he has served as:

  • Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, AFD, MSU, 2012-2014

  • Founder Dean, School of Agriculture, MSU, 2011-2013

  • Director, Botanic Garden, MSU, 2008-2011

  • Director, Student Welfare Services, MSU, 2001-2003

  • Dean, Faculty of Science, MSU 1999-2001

  • Chairman, Department of Environmental Science at the same time as Chairman, Department of Horticulture, MSU, 1998-1999

  • Founder Chairman, Department of Horticulture, MSU, 1997-1999

Prof. Nyabundi has served as a member of the following Boards:

  • Vice Chairperson of Africa Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) Technical Committee of Governing Board and representative of Kenya Participating Universities, 2019-To-date

  • Member of the Executive Committee of Inter-University Council of East Africa (IUCEA), representing Public Universities of Kenya, 2018-2020

  • Member, Vice-Chancellor’s Committee, 2014-To-date

  • Member, FKE Executive Board and Chairman of FKE Western Branch, 2005-2008

  • Member, Kenya Sugar Board, 2003-2008

Prof. Nyabundi is a full Professor of Horticulture since 1998. He previously served as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at University of Nairobi. He holds a BSc. Degree in Agriculture for University of Nairobi. MSc in Agronomy from University of Nairobi and PhD in Agricultural Ecology from University of California at Davis, USA. Prof. Nyabundi is a versatile Professor who has taught, researched and published widely in peer-reviewed journals worldwide.
